Bennett Leifer, MD, went to Brown University where he received his BA in biomedical ethics before obtaining his MD from the State University of New York-Upstate Medical College in Syracuse, New York, in 1986. He did his internship and residency in internal medicine at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. He subsequently completed a fellowship in geriatric medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1991. Since 1991, Dr. Leifer has been in private practice in internal medicine and geriatrics as an attending physician at the Valley Hospital in Bergen County, New Jersey. He is a trustee of Valley Home Care and is the medical director of Van Dyk Ridgewood. Dr. Leifer is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, both in internal medicine and added qualifications in geriatric medicine, and has recertified in both disciplines. For the last 15 years, he’s been listed in New York magazine as one of the best doctors in geriatric medicine. Dr. Leifer is a frequent lecturer and educator in the community on Alzheimer’s Disease and the management of patients with dementia.
Marc Morressi, MD Medical Director, Van Dyk Montclair
With a specialty in Internal Medicine, Dr. Marc Morresi graduated from UMDNJ-NJ Medical School in 2009 and completed his residency at Hackensack University Medical Center in 2010. He also heads up a private practice, Morresi Medical Associates, LLC in Bloomfield, NJ. As Montclair’s Medical Director, Dr. Morresi helps to ensure the highest quality care for Van Dyk Health Montclair’s patients and residents. In his role, he provides open, regular communication between patients, families, other physicians and Van Dyk’s team of care experts. He also develops and implements comprehensive care plans to support patients’ and residents’ health care needs. Dr. Morressi was elected to the Hackensack UMC Mountainside Board of Trustees, officially starting his new appointment to the Board of Trustees on February 1, 2014. Along with other hospital senior leaders, doctors and community members, he is involved in overseeing the supervision of the hospital, including operations, finances, branding and employee relations.
