Bob Van Dyk President and CEO
Bob Van Dyk is President and CEO of Van Dyk Health Care, a family-owned and operated health care organization serving northern New Jersey communities since 1953. Van Dyk Health Care comprises two skilled nursing and post-acute care facilities, one assisted living residence, a rehab company and the HeartWays cardiac rehabilitation program. A nationally recognized leader and visionary in long-term care, Van Dyk is the Immediate Past Chairman of the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and the past Chairman of the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL). He serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Governors of both associations. He was selected to serve on the White House Conference on Aging (WHCOA) in Washington DC and holds many other committee appointments at the state and national level, including a member of the Policy Committee that wrote the regulations for Assisted Living in New Jersey. Van Dyk serves on the Board of Trustees for the Montclair State University, by appointment from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. He is a member of the Valley Hospital President’s Council and also the Board of Directors of Columbia Bank, where he serves on their Executive Committee and Salary and Personnel Committee, as well as numerous boards including Immaculate Heart Academy, the Global Coalition on Aging, and the Houghton College President’s Advisory Board, where he was past Chairman. He is the author of numerous published articles and is a frequent speaker on a variety of health care topics on the national speaking circuit, and his many awards include ones from the National Center for Assisted Living, American Heath Care Association, Disney World, Don Bosco High School, and numerous state health care associations. Van Dyk holds a bachelors in business management from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a masters in health care administration from George Washington University.
Todd Aronson Executive Director, Van Dyk Park Place
Todd Aronson has been with Van Dyk Health Care since 2004, serving as Executive Director of Van Dyk Park Place. He oversees operations for Van Dyk’s award-winning assisted living facility and was named Administrator of the Year in 2008 from the New Jersey Activities Association, as well as receiving the AHCA/NCAL Bronze Quality Award in 2007. He is the one of the co-founders and services on the board of the Northern NJ Senior Care Network. In his community, Aronson has been a volunteer coach for Mahwah youth sports, including soccer, basketball, softball and baseball. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Mahwah Raiders Soccer Club. Aronson earned a bachelors in hotel/restaurant management from Southern New Hampshire University.
Kevin Brendlen Vice President, Strategic Partnerships
As VP/Strategic Partnerships, Kevin Brendlen brings over 30 years of comprehensive experience in sales and customer service to Van Dyk Health Care. His role comprises marketing, including expertise in advertising and promotions, along with operations, staff recruitment, training and supervision, and managing the referral partnership network. Brendlen’s entrepreneurial background fosters a positive, service-oriented atmosphere at Van Dyk, including a strong sense of integrity, honesty and responsibility. He attended Bergen Community College, where he majored in liberal arts and also earned a NJCALA license from the State of New Jersey.
Nancy Soto Vice President, Project Development
Nancy Soto oversees key operational projects that benefit more than 300 patients and residents and over 400 employees, including start-up and renovation construction projects involving architectural design, construction, operations, marketing, finance, purchasing and personnel, as well as managing all insurance contracts. She is also a member of the Van Dyk Management Group, which provides management consulting services to the senior care services industry. Soto attended Binghamton University where she earned an MBA with a focus on marketing and a bachelors in human resources management, along with graduating from Disney University’s “The Disney Approach to Customer Service & People Management.”
Pam Tokarczuk ADMINISTRATOR, VAN DYK RIDGEWOOD
Pam Tokarczuk serves as Administrator of Van Dyk Ridgewood, where she manages the quality and consistency of care services and operations, coordinates data and clinical outcomes surrounding hospital re-admissions, supervises the HeartWays cardiac program and nurse education. Tokarczuk’s health care experience spans various leadership roles in long term care, assisted living, residential health care and Independent senior living. She graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with both bachelors and masters degrees, and has since earned both a nursing home administrator license and an assisted living license from the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. She also serves on New Jersey’s LTC Culture Change Committee and is a member for HCANJ’s action plan committee for reducing the use of psychotropic medications in health care facilities. She is past-president, and active member of the Ringwood Garden Club of New Jersey and Charter member of the New Jersey Activities Professional Association.
Jacqueline (Jackie) Cousins Administrator, Van Dyk Montclair
Jackie Cousins is Administrator of Van Dyk Montclair, joining Van Dyk Health Care in February 2013. Jackie has more than 18 years of experience as an administrator in long-term care settings, including the last 10 years as administrator at Cranford Health. Under her leadership, her facilities have experienced growth and stability without losing sight of the primary goal of quality care. In 2011, Cousins received the Facility Leadership Award from the American College of Healthcare Administrators (ACHCA). She’s a member-at-large of the Health Care Association of New Jersey (HCANJ), including involvement in the Reimbursement, Best Practices and Managed Care committees. She was also recently appointed to be the HCANJ representative to the New Jersey Joint board for Certification of Consultant Pharmacists. Cousins holds an MA in public healthcare administration from New Jersey City University and a bachelors in psychology from William Patterson College. She is licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health as an LNHA.
Donna Melchionda Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, Donna Melchionda directs the financial health and well-being of Van Dyk Health Care, including managing and monitoring the steady growth of our facilities. Melchionda came to Van Dyk Health Care in 2006, bringing with her a hands-on approach and strong work ethic that resonates among her team. Her team manages financial controls and reporting, budget development and analysis, payroll processing, billing and collections, accounts payable, cash flow adequacy and audits, along with banking and investment partner relationships. With over 30 years of experience in accounting and over 22 years managing the financial operations and assets of long-term care and rehabilitation facilities, Melchionda’s ‘get it done,’ methodical approach is key to the success of Van Dyk Health Care’s cross-facility financial systems management and development. She graduated from Montclair State with a bachelors in business administration and accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Caroline Carter Van Dyk Family Liaison
As Van Dyk Family Liaison, Caroline Carter represents the Van Dyk family legacy and commitment to quality care. She leads communications and liaison programs for Van Dyk Health Care patients, residents and their families, bringing confidence, comfort and a positive experience beginning on day one at Van Dyk Healthcare. Her contributions to Van Dyk Montclair, Park Place and Ridgewood include developing several key information and communication tools that assure a smooth transition into each Van Dyk community, while ensuring a prompt and personal response to all requests. Carter developed the Van Dyk Welcome program, which includes an informational brochure, sharing the Van Dyk story with clients and their families, and the personal delivery of flowers or plants to residents and patients on their first day. She also established Van Dyk’s Live Surveys program, implementation of a new Liaison correspondence system and an open, cross-facility communication system between Van Dyk Health Care administrators and staff. Caroline has served as Executive Director of Operations for the Van Dyk Home Health Care Division and as Director of Operations at Visiting Angels Home Health Care Agency. Caroline graduated with a bachelors from Montclair State. She is Past-President, Treasurer, and volunteers for the Pines Lake Garden Club of Wayne for preservation of native plants and wildlife habitats in NJ.
