Award-Winning Staff Earns Elite Ranking for Fourth Straight Year

RIDGEWOOD, NJ (November 22, 2016) – U.S. News & World Report has named Van Dyk Health Care at Ridgewood one of the Best Nursing Homes nationwide for the fourth consecutive year. This honor recognizes leaders in skilled nursing and long term care, ranking within the top echelon of care providers, for achieving the highest performance in state-administered health inspections, nurse staffing and clinical measures.

“We are exceptionally proud of our Ridgewood staff and everything that we have achieved to provide our patients with quality care,” said CEO Robert Van Dyk, who received the 2015 AHCA Joe Warner Award for Patient Advocacy. “This prestigious ranking reflects our longstanding commitment to treat every employee and every patient as a part of the Van Dyk family.”

Van Dyk Health Care at Ridgewood is one of only 13 percent of nursing homes nationwide and 22 percent in New Jersey that made the prestigious U.S. News & World Report list. Each nursing home receives an overall rating of one to five stars with a minimum of four and a half stars required to qualify. Van Dyk Health Care at Ridgewood earned a perfect five out of five stars – one of only 9 percent with this distinction nationwide.

“Earning the honor, year after year, as one of New Jersey’s Best Nursing Homes is no easy task,” Van Dyk said. “The credit belongs to our staff. They make a lasting impact on those we care for. As our community looks to us to find solutions for those in need, we will be there as one family – ready to serve and ready to care.”

The Best Nursing Homes methodology includes a heavy emphasis on quality of staff, a hallmark strength of Van Dyk Health Care. Among their prolific honors, individual staff members have received the Caregiver of the Year award by the Health Care Association of New Jersey in 2013, 2014 and 2016, as well as Key to Quality awards from the National Association of Health Care Assistants from 2013 to 2016.

“Our Ridgewood staff is not only dedicated to our patients and families,” added Van Dyk. “They are dedicated to each other. That’s an important factor in delivering quality care. The future of our industry rests on our ability to improve outcomes, and that’s only possible when you put the right team in place.”

With millions of Americans spending some time in a nursing home each year, U.S. News evaluated nearly 16,000 facilities nationwide to determine the top care providers and feature them on its website.

“Finding a nursing home that meets an individual’s specific needs can be challenging for families,” said U.S. News & World Report editor and chief content officer Brian Kelly. “Our nursing home ratings are designed to help potential residents and their loved ones navigate this difficult process.”
